Little One

Little one
You don't cry when they hit you
Lips pursed, hands clenched
Silence
Slap

Little one
You believe you deserve it
Waiting patiently, it draws back
Silence
Whap

Young one
You don't blink when you threaten them
An eye for an eye isn't enough
Silence
Smack

Young one
You surge with rage when you hear
Scheming revenge to match your pain
Silence
Thud

Young one
Your little one's eyes are wide, afraid
Where will the cycle end
Silence
